Former Headteacher Mbarara High School Joram Ruranga Tibasiimwa is the National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag bearer for Western older persons in the forth coming 2021 general elections.
Tibasiimwa 77, was born in 1943 in Kitwe, Kyeizooba Sub county Bushenyi district. He is a renown educationist who has taught in many schools of western Uganda as both a teacher and Head teacher for 33 years.
Apart from Mbarara High School, Tibasiimwa served as the headteacher of Muntuyera High School Kitunga, Ruyonza School and Mutorere Secondary School.
He joined politics in 2002 as the District Councilor for Kyeizoba Sub County before becoming a district speaker for Bushenyi.
Tibasiimwa is the current chairperson National council for older Persons in Uganda, a position he held since 2016 where he doubles as chairperson Nkore Older Persons Association from 2007 to date.
Tibasiimwa will now brace himself to tussle it out with candidates from other political parties to represent western Uganda older persons in the 11th parliament come 2021.
Tibasiimwa beat three other contestants in the race after garnering 215 votes, followed by Anna Muhindo Bakazimbaga with 30 votes, Bishop Emeritus Zebedee Kahangwa-Masereka garnered 29 votes and Priscah Mwesigwa with only 2 votes.
