NOISE as Museveni Orders ‘Special’ Bailout for Broke Mogas Boss Rugazoora (See Reactions)

The name Geoffrey Rugazoora or the Rugazooras was not as well known to Ugandans as it has become since it emerged that President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni had directed Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja to ensure that a bailout plan is quickly implemented to save the Mogas Group Chairman and CEO from the debts he and his family company have been choking on.

But since the directive to PM Nabbanja leaked to the public, there have been mixed reactions from Ugandans, with some in support of the move to save Mogas petrol stations and others bitter about the decision.

Here are some of the views:

Thank you H.E President President Yoweri KagutaMuseveni  for Supporting Rugazoora’s  family , mogas and I support the idea of buying land. – Fred Nshemereirwe @FredNamanya1

Do you guys remember Ssembuule Steel Mills? Greenland Bank or you want to tell me that you forgot about WBS? When it comes to Ssembuule, Kiggundu or Wavamunno the help doesn’t come, when it comes to #Rugazoora, #Bassajjabalaba Murife runs swiftly to help. That is patriotismLin @PraddieLin

I had the privilege of meeting Mr. Rugazoora ten years ago; it’s good to support indigenous mainstream entrepreneurs to join and remain in mainstream commerce but, this instant revelation invites prejudice, unhelpful comparisons, ethnic undertones, .ad nauseum! And trust me; the Geofrey Rugazoora l met ten years ago is uncomfortable with this instant public revelation. The gentleman is very humble and prefers working silently whether achieving goals or less; he’s a consummate business mogul, urbane and well-schooled. Ayeny Angulo @AyenyAngulo

Why didn’t Rugazoora involve government while taking up those loans?! Naye oba abatukulembera balina emitwe!?Octavia Mbalire @MbalireOctavia

Why doesn’t Rugazoora sell the land off like how other people do? It’s because the intention is to steal from treasury? Museveni and his accomplices have run out of creative ways to steal from tax payers. #ExplodingNoema @XplodingNoema

Do you remember the 500bn which was sent to UDB bank to bail out businesses affected by covid 19??? Most of it went into construction of that mall along Gayaza road, where was Rugazoora and family? Please stop taking us for granted and also thinking that we are fools. Kitimbo Grace Edgar @GraceKitimbo

I think HE Yoweri Miseveni should save my friend Godfrey Rugazoora the pain of an innefective bureaucracy by simply ordering UDB to give him money – Michael Wakabi @owakabi1
