NO MORE TEARS: Museveni Cabinet Finally Decides on How Much Science Teachers Will Be Earning Starting July 2022

Leaders of the science teachers’ union have told their members that they have confirmed that they will receive the desired salary increment starting July 2022.

Recent reports had pointed to the likelihood of science teachers, health workers and other scientists getting a half of what they had demanded.

Science teachers have been demanding Shs4m for a graduate and Shs4m for a diploma holder or cadre. But top leaders of the Uganda Professional Science Teachers’ Union (Upstu) have assured their members that cabinet that President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni convened on May 30 confirmed that each graduate science teacher will be earning Shs4m monthly as promised.

“Reliable sources from govt have now confirmed that all scientists including science teachers will have their salaries enhanced to the tune of 4M/3M for both Degree/Diploma Cadres Respectively. This position came from the last cabinet meeting on 30th/05/22. We are now very safe!” said Vincent Elong, the chairperson of Upstu.

“This development of 4M/3M will be effective in the July 2022. A Very Big Thanks To H.E the President, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for standing firm on the welfare of science teachers amidst all the resistance and negativity.”

Last week, Public Service Minister Muruli Mukasa was quoted as swearing that he will resign and have his right hand cut off if President Museveni’s government does not increase salaries of all scientists, including science teachers, starting July 2022. (Read Story Here).
