No Coffin – and Other Shocking Facts about Ndiga Clan Head Daniel Bbosa Burial

The activities at the March 03 2024 burial of assassinated Ndiga Clan head Lwomwa Daniel Bbosa in Mbaale, Mpigi district have come as a shock to some people who were seeing them for the first time. But the shocking facts about Ndiga clan head Bbosa burial are part of the cultural procedures for the burial of the clan’s head.

Milly Naluwenda, a clerk at Kisekwa, a Buganda Kingdom traditional court, is the latest suspect detectives have arrested as investigations into the Bbosa’s arrest continues.

Naluwenda’s arrest and others said to have been done reportedly stem from information from a mobile phone belonging to one of the suspects.

Meanwhile, Omutaka Lwasi Eria Buzaabo is now the new ndiga clan head, replacing Bbosa.

SHOCKING FACTS ABOUT NDIGA CLAN HEAD BBOSA BURIAL

First, the burial of the clan head is referred to as ‘okutereka’ (roughly referring to storing).

Bbosa’s body being wrapped in bark cloths

As opposed to most burials where the body of the deceased is put in a coffin or casket, the body of assassinated Ndiga clan head Bbosa was not placed in a coffin before burial.

The assassinated clan head’s body being tied in bark cloths.

Instead, it was wrapped in bark cloth. The act is meant to preserve the body of the fallen clan head for some time, according to Culton Scovia Nakamya, a journalist familiar with Buganda’s cultural practices, owing to her work with monarchy television station BBS.

The bark cloths for wrapping the body of Bbosa numbered up to 100.

But the fallen clan head’s body appeared in a casket during a requiem service at Namirembe Christian Fellowship.

Nakamya further explained that Bbosa’s grave or resting place “must be at least 15Ft below the ground.”

Additionally, the clan head’s burial time differs from that of ‘ordinary people.’ The clan head must be laid to rest later in the evening: after sunset.

Bobi Wine and Ssenyonyi attended the burial

At the burial was leader of opposition in Parliament Joel Ssenyonyi and his boss Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine, the National Unity Platform (NUP) president. Bobi Wine claims that assassinated Ndiga clan head Bbosa was his uncle. (See Details Here).
