A Monday night fire in the Parking lot at the headquarters of the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) left vehicles burnt.
“Fire Incident at our Office Parking Lot We have had an unfortunate incident of a fire outbreak at our office parking lot on Plot 5, Georgian House,” said URSB in a statement.
The fire at Georgian House, which houses URSB, was reported at about 10:25pm on May 10.
Police Fire Brigade managed to put out the fire minutes before midnight.
Established by an Act of Parliament in 1998, URSB is responsible for civil registrations, business registrations, registration of patents and intellectual property rights, and any other registrations required by law.
A fire at the offices would thus destroy loads of vital documents, since some of them remain undigitalized.
