In a shocking turn of events, Eric Mwesigwa, a hitherto enthusiastic supporter of Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine's National Unity Platform (NUP), has denied being tortured by Gen Yoweri Museveni state security agents but blamed his party's principal for promising him a cool Shs50m to tell lies to tarnish the image of security agencies. 

Uganda's main opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) has trashed a statement by the national army, the Uganda People's Defence Forces (UPDF), regarding the alleged torture of Eric Mwesigwa, a party activist who claims that his chest was burnt with hot metals during detention. 

Uganda Police Force (UPF) has revealed details of how fraudsters gained unauthorized access to a company’s account in Stanbic Bank and withdrew about $1.8m (about Shs6.6bn). Working with Stanbic Bank Uganda’s Fraud Department, Police’s Special Investigations Division has been investigating the fraud and has managed to identify those suspected of taking part, some of who have already been arrested.

Uganda Police Force (UPF) has released the list of nearly 1,300 successful candidates who have been selected to join the law and order agency. The successful candidates are among the thousands who had applied for probationer police constable (general duties) and probationer police constable driver jobs.
