The case of a man who was arrested with a human head at Parliament on September 14 has taken a new twist after DNA results from the head in question corresponded with those of a torso of a slain girl in Masaka.
Joseph Nuwashaba, a resident of Kizinda in Ishaka-Bushenyi Municipality, was nabbed at Parliament while smuggling in a head of a child aged about five.
Nuwashaba reportedly told security officers the head was a gift he was delivering to Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga.
Hours later, Criminal Investigations and Crime Intelligence Directorate (CID) spokesperson Charles Twine Mansio revealed detectives had started probing the link between the head in question and the torso of a girl killed days ago in Masaka.
Fresh Details about man who carried human head to Parliament emerge, linked to Masaka murder
Police officers investigating the matter say they wanted to establish if Nuwashaba was connected to the Masaka murder, and if he had had a hand in other ritual killings.
Sources at CID now say the results from the DNA tests carried on the head and torso indicate a relationship between the two body parts.
The girl believed to have killed by Nuwashaba has been identified as Faith Kyamagero.
Her parents, the Ssenyongas, had learnt of the news of Nuwashaba carrying Kyamagero’s head to Kadaga via the media.
According to a local police report, locals had discovered the body of Kyamagero, which had no head, near the NWSC treatment plant in Masaka.
There are also unconfirmed reports that Nuwashaba had stayed with the deceased’s family for months.
