Rwandan President Paul Kagame and Uganda’s Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni may sometimes disagree, almost to the point of leading the countries to war against each other.

But Kagame and Museveni share some aspects of the two countries’ histories that sometimes make them restrain themselves and think of each other as comrades and brothers.

During first son Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s dinner at the weekend, Museveni narrated how Kagame rescued him and his son.

On April 24, Museveni hosted Rwanda’s President Paul Kagame, eminent leaders of the Government of Uganda, distinguished guests in their respective capacities, family, friends and relatives to a private dinner in honour of Lt Gen Kainerugaba. (Read Story Here).

Perhaps, without the intervention of Kagame, things would have turned out different for young Muhoozi and his father.

“He [Muhoozi] is also an early veteran [who] at five years when we were arrested in Kireka by our UPC allies, they were planning to send us to God but our force with Kagame and [Gen Salim] Saleh rescued us,” said Museveni.

Lt Gen Kainerugaba has previously praised Kagame, his ‘uncle,’ and Gen Salim Saleh, terming them very great.
