NARROW ESCAPE: Museveni’s Brother Survives Nasty Accident

President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni’s  younger brother Godfrey Aine Kaguta aka Sodo is lucky to be alive and he is counting his blessings, including that of life, after he cheated death in a nasty accident he was involved in as he took part in the  National Rally Championship (NRC).

The accident happened on the morning of Saturday, November 12, 2022 in Butapa Village of Bugweri District’s Buyanga Sub County. The president’s brother was driving in a Mitsubishi EVO9 registration number UAV 889Z when the accident happened.

Sodo Kaguta was driving alongside Derrick Lubambula. The vehicle overturned many times before crashing in a garden near the road it was travelling on. While Sodo was not badly hurt, Lubambula is said to have sustained serious and life-threatening injuries and was rushed to hospital for medical attention.

The vehicle wreckage from the accident was towed away. Traffic police are yet to give details on the cause of the accident but it has been blamed on the state of the road route which was very muddy.

At least 30 rally drivers have taken part in the rallying competition whose organizers include Kaliro Sugar. The championship is one of the last items on the national rally calendar.

Sodo is an interesting brother of Gen Museveni. In 2020, he was involved in a political battle with Sam Kutesa’s daughter Shartis Musherure, a political battle that resurrected the 40-year-old rivalry between the Museveni family and the Sam Kutesa family, when Museveni lost to Kutesa and dragged him to court.
