Kayunga Woman MP Aidah Nantaba has denied claims that she filed a complaint against singer Gerald Kiwewa over his ‘Nantaba- Zaake,’ song leading to his arrest.
On July 23, police picked Kiwewa from his home in Maganjo, Wakiso District, saying Nantaba had filed a complaint at the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) in Kibuli.
Under complaint number GEF 442/2020, Nantaba reportedly accused Kiwewa of using the song to attack and defame her.

But Nantaba has opened up on the arrest, denying any involvement in the arrest of the singer.
She spoke after singers, including Sophie Gombya, reportedly called her to complain about her role in Kiwewa’s arrest.
“It was wrong for the singers to attack me before hearing my part of the story,” said Nantaba in a July 24 interview
Nantaba punched holes in police claims that she had filed a complaint at CID Kibuli, saying she was in Kayunga and hadn’t been to a police station to report any case for a while.
According to Nantaba, there are many people she shares her name with, and Kiwewa was free to use it as an artiste.
“If Kiwewa finds using the name Nantaba in his songs one of the ways through which he can bring food to the table for his family, why then should I have any problem with him?” wondered Nantaba.
“I don’t have [monopoly] of the ownership of the name Nantaba because more than 10,000 people in Uganda have that name.”
She gave an example of singer Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine who had used names such as Specioza in his songs, saying she saw no reason why Kiwewa would face charges for using her name.
