Outgoing government chief whip and Kiboga Woman MP Ruth Nankabirwa says she is praying for Rebecca Kadaga to lose her speaker bid to Jacob Oulanyah so that she can learn to respect the NRM, its organs such as the Central Executive Committee (CEC), and leaders.
Nankabirwa was one of the high profile government officials who attended a prayer and thanksgiving service for Oulanyah after he submitted his expression of interest forms for the speaker race.
At the event held at the Kampala Sheraton Hotel, Nankabirwa argued that it was disrespectful of Kadaga to undermine the NRM’s rules of comprise and consensus, written or unwritten.
“I have been a CEC member since 2015, whatever I say is not theory, but out of participation. Both NRM and Parliament have their own rules,” she said.
“We have procedures that are not written down, but biding and intend to bring harmony.”
Kadaga: I never agreed to leave speaker job for Oulanyah in 2021; forget that, this is a new Uganda
Nankabirwa says she is praying Oulanyah wins so that Kadaga can learn her lesson.
“I am praying that Oulanyah takes the seat so that others learn a lesson. Somebody must learn a lesson,” she continued.
“You must respect the party that has put you where you are. It’s ashaming for one not to respect their parents.”
