Mukono Municipality MP Betty Nambooze says the current Ugandan opposition led by Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine and his National Unity Platform (NUP) is a blessing to incumbent President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni and his National Resistance Movement (NRM).
Nambooze is unhappy that the debate seems to have now shifted to sharing positions and salary packages.
She is particularly irked by her name being dragged into the discussion on who will be the leader of the opposition in the 11th Parliament.
Nambooze says NUP should now be focusing on ensuring that Museveni is removed from power.
NUP won over 60 parliamentary seats, mainly in Bobi Wine’s home Buganda subregion, eclipsing Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) as the main opposition political party.
But Bobi Wine lost the presidential election to Museveni by a difference of 23 per cent.
Nambooze has described the NUP-led opposition as “lazy.”
“The current political conversation favors Museveni,” Nambooze says.
“He must even be laughing himself into craziness and praising God for giving him a lazy opposition.”
