Nakalema Speaks Out after Museveni Fired Her as Anti-Corruption Boss

Col Edith Nakalema has reacted to the news of her sacking as the head of State House Anti-Corruption Unit (SH-ACU).

On January 25, Museveni sacked Col Nakalema and replaced her with Brig Gen Henry Isoke.

Now, hours after The Pearl Times broke the news of her sacking (Read story here), Nakalema has penned her reaction.

First, she praised President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni for appointing her as the inaugural SH-ACU boss.

Nakalema also welcomed her successor Brig Gen Isoke.

“I wholeheartedly wish to thank H.E The President and Commander in Chief for the opportunity he gave me to establish and lead State House Anti Corruption Unit (SH-ACU) for the last three years. It’s been an honour and an enriching experience to serve my beloved country in that capacity,” she wrote.

“The appointment of my superior Brig. Gen. Henry Isoke confirms the pivotal role that State House Anti Corruption Unit continues to play in the fight against corruption. I wish Afande Isoke the very best. SH-ACU is made up of a team of committed patriots who will give him all the support he needs.”

She also praised the media.

“I thank the media fraternity for being a dependable partner in exposing the corrupt and evangelizing our efforts in the war against corruption. I also thank the citizens for supporting our collective fight to eliminate the corrupt. Please keep it up!”

Nakalema is one of the officials heading for a one-year course in Jinja. She was confident she would get bigger assignments in future.

“I am equally excited about my nomination by H.E The President to join the pioneer participants of National Defense College, Uganda (NDC-U). It’s the topmost course one’s military career,” she said.

“I am confident that it will prepare me to serve my country even better.”

Meanwhile, Museveni appointed a new deputy IGP. (Read story here).

Museveni has also fired CID director Grace Akullo. (See story here).

It has also emerged that Maj Gen Abel Kandiho, the fired CMI boss, could have had his fate sealed in the meeting between President Paul Kagame of Rwanda and Museveni’s son Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba. (Read story here).
