Isaac Ssebagala Sempala, husband to Kampala Woman MP Nabilah Naggayi, has revealed he ran to Canada with their children after it emerged that his wife was sleeping with Prof Venansius Baryamureeba.
Recently, Baryamureeba explained how Sempala had failed to pay his Shs800m loan.
But Sempala says he had paid back a huge chunk of the money, leaving only Shs44m.
“In 2013, I managed to pay back some big percentage of money and I was left with Shs44m. I expected her to pay the remaining Shs44m that we were owing to the bank,” claims Sempala.
Sempala has also revealed that years ago, when he learnt of the news that his wife was having an affair with the former Makerere University vice chancellor, he decided to settle in Canada with their children to avoid shame.
“After getting some misunderstandings with my wife due to allegations I received concerning her relationship with Prof Baryamureeba, to protect the dignity of my family, I relocated to Canada with our four children,” says Sempala.
He also claimed that he had felt unwanted in their home at Kyadondo Block 273 Plot 5 Katuso Close at Katuso in Kampala District.
He had come for the burial of his elder brother Hajj Ntege Ssebaggala when Nabilah gave him a cold shoulder.
“After the burial, my wife kept on asking me when I’m leaving? And I told her I will stay with her for one week but I had already received some information about the two,” revealed Sempala.
“When the week elapsed she started misbehaving and that is where the misunderstandings began and when I went to our home I was shocked when I met private security personnel deployed at our home purposely to stop me from accessing it on her orders.”
