President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni has not yet offered Speaker of Parliament the Vice President job offer, government spokesperson Ofwono Opondo.
Kadaga, now seeking re-election as speaker of Parliament, recently swore she wouldn’t accept to become President Museveni’s deputy.
Kadaga: Why I don’t want to be Museveni’s Vice President
The ruling NRM party will have to choose between Kadaga and her deputy Jacob Oulanyah for a candidate for Parliament’s top job.
Some have urged Kadaga to follow her predecessor speaker Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi and accept the VP job.
But in his latest commentary on the noise the race for the 11th speaker race has generated, Opondo revealed Museveni hadn’t yet offered Kadaga the VP job.
“During the week Kadaga was reported or misrepresented in the media among other things to have told MPs from Busoga region at Hotel Africana that she cannot accept any other position including Vice President because it is of little or no consequence, yet no such offer had been extended,” said Opondo.
