Museveni wants to kill me, Bobi Wine tells CNN

National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi has told CNN Zain Exchange host Zain Asher his life is in danger under the President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni administration.

Bobi Wine claimed his life and the lives of his supporters were in danger.

“It’s true my life is in danger but so is the life of other Ugandans who voted me,” he alleged.

He further made other unsubstantiated claims, including shifting his goal post on the number of votes he alleges he won the January 14 presidential election.

While he previously claimed he polled just over 50 per cent to beat Museveni – a claim he and his party failed to prove – Bobi Wine told a gullible imperialist CNN audience he garnered 85 per cent of the over 10 million votes cast.

“I got over 85% of the vote and here I am giving you their [my voters’] voice,” claimed the singer-turned-politician.

According to official Electoral Commission (EC) results, Bobi Wine polled 35 per cent of the total votes cast, losing to Museveni who got 58 per cent.

Bobi Wine garnered most of his votes from his home subregion of Buganda.

His party NUP won majority of the seats in this subregion, eclipsing the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) as the main opposition political party.

The former Kyadondo East MP further urged the US to stop funding Uganda’s government under Museveni.

“I call upon all the donors to stop funding the state since most of the money is spent on buying arms to violate the rights of Ugandans. The international community should stop aiding the brutality in Uganda,” Bobi Wine told CNN’s Zain Asher.

“The US and the western world can do more than issuing statements and condemnations when human rights abuses are happening in Uganda.”
