Museveni: Uganda is the best country in the world

President Yoweri Museveni has praised Uganda’s beauty, describing the land locked East African nation he leads as the best in the world.

Museveni made the remarks after taking a stroll with his daughter Natasha Lynette Nyinancwende Kainembabazi Karugire in Kapchorwa.

“Off the busy campaign trail, we took a stroll: From Kapchorwa State lodge, you can view Mt Kadam in Karamoja, Mt Elgon, Lake Bisina in the Teso region, and all the surroundings,” Museveni said.

The 76-year-old wondered why some people badly wanted to leave the Pearl of Africa, a country blessed with resources.

“I always marvel at some Ugandans that look so desperate to travel to other countries, almost all of them not as endowed and as beautiful as Uganda,” he said.

On November 27, Museveni held  campaign meetings with leaders of his ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party in the Sebei sub-region in Kapchorwa Town.

He is today expected to meet party leaders in Bukedi in the town of Tororo.

In power since 1986 when he took over following five years of a bush war that left thousands dead, Museveni is seeking to extend his rule to four decades.

He is facing two 10 opponents, including two of his bush war comrades Maj Gen (Rtd) Gregg Mugisha Muntu of the Alliance for National Transformation (ANT), and Lt Gen (Rtd) Henry Kakurugu Tumukunde.

Other opponents include Patrick Oboi Amuriat of main opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), Norbert Mao of Democratic Party (DP), Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine of the National Unity Platform (NUP), Joseph Kiiza Kabuleta, John Katumba, Willy Mayambala, Fred Mwesigye and Nancy Kalembe.
