Museveni to West Nile: Don’t Vote Opposition politicians who want to promote homosexuality & cause chaos

President Yoweri Museveni has told the people of Arua City in West Nile to shun opposition politicians who work with promoters of homosexuality, and those who ride on violence to score political points.

In his remarks during an event to orient and commission his campaign coordinators under the Office of the National Chairman (ONC) in West Nile, Museveni noted that some politicians were working to make homosexuality look like a normal practice.

“Those are being used by the West to introduce despicable acts of homosexuality and cultural disruption,” he said.

“Also, terrorist groups operating in the Great Lakes Region are using indirect methods through politicians. Don’t fall for their schemes.”

People Power pressure group and National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine is one of the politicians who members of the public have accused of having ties with promoters of homosexual acts.

But the youthful Kyadondo East MP denies the allegations.

On violence, Museveni warned against opportunistic politicians such as Bobi Wine who stoked chaos in the 2018 Arua Municipality by-election.

The NRM National Chairman made it clear that nobody should divide based on their political differences.

Speaking through her special advisor and personal assistant Milly Babirye Babalanda, Museveni further urged the people of the newly launched Arua City to avoid using the new status to sow seeds of political divisions and wrangles.

He tipped them on how to use Arua’s elevation to spur development by tapping into the DR Congo and South Sudan markets.

The NRM Chairman advised the youths to engage in productive activities to avoid being enticed by the opposition who want to engage in acts of violence.

The young people, Museveni added, should “emulate Gen Moses Ali who is engaged in large scale commercial farming.  He is old but not poor. Emulate him! You still have land and it is very fertile.”

On elective politics, Museveni urged the people of West Nile to vote NRM candidates so as to make it “easier to agree on interventions that will rapidly transform your sub-region and implement them.”

On matters of security, the president lauded the people of West Nile for the sacrifice and efforts in defeating Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels, and Uganda National Rescue Front (UNRF) who had no option but to join NRM.

On behalf of Museveni, Babalanda commissioned the coordinators who will mobilize for him ahead of the 2021 election. The head of state called on the coordinators to be patriotic and disciplined.
