Museveni sends State House team to convince Kadaga to accept Vice President Job; Outgoing speaker ‘undecided’

President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni has dispatched a team to inform outgoing speaker Rebecca Kadaga of an offer for Vice President job, State House sources have confirmed to Pearl Times News.

Sunday morning, ruling NRM Central Executive Committee (CEC) members shocked Kadaga when they chose Jacob Oulanyah as their preferred candidate for the speaker position.

Kadaga is said to have become furious and threatened to run as an independent in the May 24 speaker election at Kololo Independence Grounds.

Now, sources familiar with Museveni’s operations have confirmed that the president has indeed promised to appoint Kadaga to a top position, with one of the two offers – vice president or prime minister – if she accepts not to stand as an independent.

“Yes, it is true. His Excellency the President sent a message to Honorable Kadaga. I can confirm that the team has delivered the message,” our source at State House said.

“Her response was not discouraging. She promised to think about it and get back to His Excellency the President.”
