Presidency minister Milly Babirye Babalanda says she laughed when she first heard reports that she had demanded a Shs20m bribe from people who wanted to be appointed RDCs.
Weeks ago, President Museveni’s office released the list of new RDCs, RCCs and their deputies. (Read Story Here).
But Kashambya MP David Kabanda claimed that Minister Babalanda’s office removed RDCs who refused to bribe them with Shs20m from the final list of RDCs. (Read Story Here).
Publicly addressing the allegations for the first time on April 23, Minister Babalanda said she laughed off the claims because they were baseless.
“Unless there is anyone with evidence to such effect but when someone speaks with without evidence, and recklessly…” she told believers at Shalom-Bukasa SDA Church in Mukono.
“I even laughed at the Shs20 million allegation. Let them speak, and the truth shall prevail always.”
Babalanda vowed to stick to the truth even if she remains the only woman standing with the truth.
“That is why, even when I remain alone, for as long as I am right, nothing will worry me,” she said.
She also reiterated her previous allegation that the mafia were fighting her after she reportedly blocked their alleged land grabbing deals.
Meanwhile, some of the fired RDCs have since formed an association and sought help from President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni, saying they are choking on debts and loans. (Read Story Here).
