Museveni: Mask I wore to Tanzania irritated my voice but inconvenience is better than death

President Yoweri Museveni has revealed that wearing a mask on his recent trip to Tanzania caused irritation of his voice, but urged Ugandans to put on masks because it is better to be inconvenienced than to die.

On September 13, Museveni travelled to Tanzania to ink a pact for the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) project.

While he wore a mask, his Tanzanian counterpart John Pombe Magufuli and his team wore none.

Now days after he returned from his first foreign trip in almost six months, Museveni revealed that wearing a mask on this journey had caused him voice irritation.

Responding to 76th birthday wishes that poured in from online followers, Museveni urged Ugandans to guard themselves against Covid19.

“I want all of you now to be very careful as you have seen this virus is beginning to kill people seriously. So watch out, be safe, avoid crowds, don’t touch yourself,” he said.

“Make sure you put on a mask, although sometimes it irritates the voice, like the mask I put on when I went to Tanzania. The voice is a little bit irritated but it’s better to be inconvenienced than to die.”
