Now considered by some members of the opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) as a ‘Museveni man’, ‘party president’ Patrick Oboi Amuriat (POA) has summoned the political organization’s Deputy in charge of Central Uganda, spokesperson Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda and secretary for mobilization and ex-Kawempe South legislator Mubarak Munyagwa for questioning after they exposed him for his alleged ‘dirty money deal’ with NRM’s Gen Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni.
In a notice dated August 08, Amuriat summoned seven of FDC’s top leaders over indiscipline.
The party said the invitation for interrogation was in response to the leaders’ recent behavior towards the party. Amuriat has now formally submitted the names of the National Executive Committee members to the party’s disciplinary committee for review. In his view, Amuriat says the summoned members have disciplinary cases against them and they must answer.
The cases include absconding from duty.
Amuriat says he appointed most of those summoned in acting capacity and that he has suggested that he can remove them anytime he wants.
“I proceed under article 28(3)(b)(lil) and acting in consultation with the party Working Committee to request you to convene meetings of the Committee on Discipline to hear and dispose cases of hostility towards the party, failure to execute and absconding from duty…,” he wrote.
“You may need to note that with exception of Hon. Ibrahim Ssemuju Nganda and Mr. Amon Ayesigomwe who were elected by the National Delegates Conference, all the above members were appointed by me on acting basis.”
Amuriat added: “Once the proceedings commence I will be available to provide details of the party’s case against each of the accused. In the meantime and moving under the above mentioned constitutional provision, I will be making appointments on acting basis to offices held by the above mentioned members.”
Those summoned are: Kampala Lord Mayor and Deputy President Erias Lukwago, Secretary for Information and Publicity Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda, Deputy Secretary for Presidency Kennedy Okello, Deputy Secretary for Mobilization Dr George Okello Ekwaro, Deputy for International and Regional Affairs Samuel Makhoka W’Mugenyi, Secretary for Works and Transport Amon Ayesigomwe Rubarema and Secretary for Mobilization Mubarak Munyagwa.
It should be remembered that in what has been seen as revenge against a man who has accused him of chewing Museveni money to sell FDC to Museveni and fight Bobi Wine’s NUP, Amuriat and Nandala Mafabi have fired Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda as party whip. But Ssemujju has fired back at Nandala Mafabi, telling them they cannot sack him. (See Details Here).
Opposition kingpin Dr Kizza Besigye has since revealed that Amuriat and Nandala Mafabi started speaking in tongues after he grilled them over the source of the money they wanted him to keep at his home. (Read Story Here).
