HUBRIS SYNDROME: Outgoing security minister Gen Elly Tumwine has suggested President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni is drunk on and intoxicated by power.
In his handover speech as security minister, RO/0023 Gen Tumwine sought to drive the point that Museveni should leave power.
President Museveni has been in power since 1986 when he took power after a five-year bush war.
Hundreds of thousands of people died in the war.
Tumwine is famed for the attack on Kabamba Barracks, one of initial raids the Museveni NRA group used to acquire arms.
In the June 08; Cabinet announcement, Museveni dropped Tumwine.
He appointed him the senior presidential advisor on security.
The general says he will use his position to convince Museveni to desist from the temptation that is hubris syndrome.
Hubris syndrome is a disorder where politicians get intoxicated or drunk on power, so much that they don’t want to let go.
Museveni has ruled Uganda for 36 years. By the close of his current five-year term, he will have ruled Uganda for four decades.
Currently one of the longest serving presidents in the world, Museveni is expected to run for president in 2026.
