Ruling NRM chairman President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni has dismissed claims that he is fighting outgoing speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga on behalf of her nemesis Jacob Oulanyah.
On May 23, the NRM Central Executive Committee (CEC) endorsed Oulanyah as speaker candidate, dropping Kadaga.
Kadaga accused top party officials of fighting her.

But in his closing remarks at the end of NRM CEC and Parliamentary caucus meetings at State House Entebbe on May 23, Museveni denied the claims of attempts to eject the Kamuli Woman MP from the party.
The president and national NRM chairman made it clear nobody was above the party.
“I have never supported Oulanyah or Kadaga,” Museveni said.
“For me it’s about the party.”
