Museveni: I Know The People Who Killed Joan Kagezi & The Country Where they are Hiding

President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni has revealed that he knows the killers of Prosecutor Joan Namazzi Kagezi and the country where they are hiding. 

In his remarks at the fifth Joan Kagezi Memorial Lecture held in Kampala on April 26, Museveni was concerned that Attorney General Kiryowa Kiwanuka and Director of Public Prosecutions Jane Frances Abodo had not undertaken the necessary processes to ensure that Kagezi’s killers are brought to book.

Museveni insisted that he knows Kagezi’s killers and that they are living outside the country.

But the president did not name the country where the suspected killers are living.

He tasked DPP Abodo to explain why Kagezi’s killers had not yet been extradited to Uganda to face prosecution.

Abodo told the president that Kampala needs to sign a treaty with the country where Kagezi’s killers are hiding.

The DPP even told the president that the country where the late prosecutor’s killers are hiding is unhappy with the death penalty in Ugandan laws.

Susan Okalany, the deputy head of the International Crimes Division of the High court justice, agreed with Abodo.

Museveni then ruled out the rumor that the killers are hiding in Arab countries.

He went on to say that Kampala would be somehow satisfied even if the country hiding Kagezi’s killers sentences them to a jail term in their hotels, “which they call prisons.”

Seven years since Kagezi was shot dead in Kiwatule, Kampala, on March 30, 2015, her killers are still on the run.
