Museveni finally intervenes to save Gulu University drug Covilyce that reportedly heals Covid19 in 12 hours

President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni is expected to meet a team of officials from Gulu University, including scientist Alice Veronica Lamwaka, over Covilyce 1, a drug that reportedly heals Covid19 within 12 to 72 hours.

Invented by Gulu University’s Faculty of Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Studies, Covilyce 1 is administered as a nasal drip, syrup, suppository and in powder form.

The scientists are said to have tried the drug on at least 100 people, with promising results.

But medicines regulator National Drug Authority (NDA) has warned the public Covilyce 1 is not approved for use.

Following NDA’s warning, the University, particularly the Faculty of Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Studies, hosted NDA’s North regional team officials.

David Kaggwa, the manager of the regional office, led the NDA team.

A statement from the education institution said the NDA team “advised the University to formalize the process of notifying the Authority about Covilyce and promised to work closely with us.”

“We thank His Excellency President Yoweri Museveni Kaguta for his support Towards Gulu University herbal medicine research on Covid19,” the university added.

It also praised Museveni “for the good gestures towards Dr Lamwaka Alice Veronica’s innovation and strides on Covilyce.”

Sources from the university’s public relations unit revealed a meeting with the president would happen soon.
