Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja has said there is a possibility that President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni may not address the nation on Saturday, July 31 on the Covid19 pandemic lockdown as earlier announced.
Museveni’s senior press secretary Lindah Nabusayi had told Ugandans the president would on their radios and televisions giving an update on Saturday.
“President Museveni will address the Nation this Saturday July 31, 2021 at 8pm on Covid19 and any other related issues. The address will be live on all Television and Radio stations,” Nabusayi had communicated.
But on July 28, PM Nabbanja revealed that Museveni may address the nation on Friday, July 30, 2021.
She explained that the 42 days of lockdown announced on June 18 end on Friday, July 30, at midnight.
The premier was however quick to add that if the president chooses to address Ugandans on Saturday, all lockdown measures, directives and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) will remain in place until new ones are announced.
