Museveni Awards Fred Enanga For Exemplary Service To Ugandans

Uganda Police Force (UPF) spokesperson Fred Enanga is one of the 81 Ugandans that President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni will award medals during this year’s Heroes Day celebration.

On Thursday, June 09, 2022, Uganda will commemorate Heroes Day, an annual event that celebrates citizens “who have made exceptionally outstanding contributions locally and globally,” according to an official government statement.

To be held under the theme: ‘An opportunity to consolidate our efforts in securing Uganda,’ the 2022 Heroes’ Day Anniversary celebrations will take place at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds, with President Museveni as the chief guest.

In line with the National Honours and Awards Act, 2001, the Office of the President and the the Chancery or Presidential Awards Committee have agreed on the names of 81 Ugandans who will be awarded medals at Kololo.

The 81 were approved by the Presidential Awards Committee from the list of those proposed.

Of the 81, 34 will receive the 50th Anniversary Golden Jubilee Medal, in recognition of their outstanding service and loyalty to the country. Among others, Enanga will be awarded the Golden Jubilee Award for his exemplary role and outstanding service in the UPF as well as for his loyalty to Uganda.

Enanga previously headed the Economic Crimes Department, CID Commander for Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP), Commandant Land Protection Police Unit, and as Commissioner CID Administration and Training. He is credited for demonstrating high professional standards in criminal investigations, including large scale corporate fraud of Shs12bn and procurement fraud.

A total of 17 awardees will be given the Nalubaale Medal for their contribution to the political development of Uganda. Up to 18 of the medalists will be awarded the Luwero Triangle Medal, which is usually awarded to any officer, man and woman who joined the armed struggle against dictatorship in Uganda.

Five Ugandans will also receive the Damu Medal, which is given to members of the military who were wounded in action or died in action during the liberation struggle. Four people will get the Long Service Gold Police Medal, which is awarded to officers with long service years, that is 30 years and above, with a clean and uninterrupted service to the Force.

Two Long Service Silver Police Medalists will be awarded for their long service of 20 years and above, with a clean and uninterrupted service to the Force.

Two honorary medalists, who are civilians, will be awarded for showing unwavering support to police programs and thus made police operations and the welfare of officers easier and improved.

NOTABLE MEDALISTS

Kakira Joel (GOLDEN JUBILEE) donated land to Government in 2018 for building Mabere Health Centre III in Sheema District. He pays tuition fees for many children and has been supporting Rweicumu Primary School in Sheema with scholastic materials for the candidate classes for the last four years. He has continuously enrolled orphaned and the needy children in schools where he can support and monitor them.

Adoko Judy (GOLDEN JUBILEE) is the Executive Secretary for Lango Cultural Foundation, and the Executive Director for Land and Equity Management Uganda (LEMU). She has written several publications like; Land Matters in Displacement; The importance of land rights in Acholi land and what threatens them (2004), Land rights and displacement in Northern Uganda in humanitarian exchange magazine (34), ODI (2006), falling between two stools; how women’s rights to land are lost between state and customary law-lessons from Apac District, Northern Uganda in Englert and Daley (EDS) women’s land rights & privatization in eastern Africa (James curry, 2008).

Tom O’Lalobo (NALUBAALE) is a former airline pilot flying a DC-19 Aircraft who made it possible to build a strong base to fight dictatorship.

He became one of the first five members of Kikosi Maalum, FRONASA and others in exile who later captured Kainpala after Moshi Conference.

He flew a DC airplane that had a tyre pressure problem at landing in Arusha from Kilimanjaro with a group UNLA/F.

To date, seventeen thousand two hundred twenty six medals have been awarded to exemplary nationals and non-nationals who deserve the honour and recognition.
