Commander-in-chief and Uganda’s President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has appointed Lt Col Ronald Kakurungu as the new deputy spokesperson of Uganda’s UPDF army, sending Col Deo Asiimwe Akiiki for further studies.
Recently promoted in rank, Col Deo Akiiki previously trained in strategic security at the National Defence University in Washington DC, USA.

He will now do a course at the Senior Command and Staff College in Kimaka, Jinja District.
Deo Akiiki saluted the army leadership for sending him for further studies.
He was confident this move would further his military career.
He is likely to return from course to a new, higher assignment.
“I thank the UPDF Leadership for nominating me to go and further my studies and military career at the Senior Command and Staff College,” Col Deo Akiiki said June 06 morning.
He also welcomed Kakurungu.
The new deputy spokesperson’s previous assignments included: spokesperson of the Fourth Division, Gulu; and spokesperson of the Second Division, Mbarara.
