President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni and his Ugandan government have reportedly granted a request by the US government to have thousands of Afghanistan refugees hosted in Uganda.
The request follows the Taliban takeover of Kabul after 20 years of American imperialism in Afghanistan.
According to US president Joe Biden, China and Russia would want to see America pump billions into Afghanistan but there was nolonger need to inject cash into the Asian country.
“[Our mission in Afghanistan] was never supposed to be nation-building. It was never supposed to be creating a unified, centralized democracy. Our only vital national interest in Afghanistan remains today what has always been, preventing a terrorist attack on American homeland,” said Biden.
“Our true strategic competitors, China and Russia, would love nothing more than the United States to continue to funnel billions of dollars into [the Afghan war].”
After the US and NATO occupational forces failed to defeat the Talibans, a refugee crisis unfolded, catching the world by surprise.
This prompted Biden to ask Museveni to host at least 2,000 refugees from Afghanistan.
After Museveni and Biden concluded their conversation, the Ugandan President ordered a meeting between the US embassy officials and Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) which supervises refugee issues in the country.
Going into Monday night, the meeting resolved that the first batch of Afghan refugees, about 500 in number, be allowed into the country in a few days.
This group will also include Afghan officials fleeing the crisis created by the US imperialist interests.
Junior minister in charge of refugees and disaster preparedness Davinia Anyakun has been quoted as saying that Uganda was ready to receive the first batch that was expected on August 17 via the Entebbe International Airport.
Anyakun also said the Afghan officials arriving today, basically puppets and collaborators of the US imperialists, would be accommodated in hotels and not in refugee camps at the cost of the American government.
