Muntu to EC boss Byabakama: Don’t bow to Museveni pressure, Ugandans will back you

Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) presidential candidate Maj Gen (Rtd) Gregg Mugisha Muntu has once again urged the Electoral Commission (EC) not to give in to pressure from incumbent president Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni to rig January 14 elections.

Muntu told the EC Ugandans would support the commission if it did the right thing.

Muntu spoke during a joint press conference attended by presidential candidates Patrick Oboi Amuriat of main opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), and Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine of National Unity Platform (NUP) as well as veteran opposition leader Dr Kizza Besigye, at Hotel Africana in Kampala on January 12.

“To the EC, don’t bow to pressure. Do the right thing and stand firm, the law will be on your side and Ugandans will be on your side too,” said Muntu.

His statement is almost similar to the one he made in his November 02, 2020 nomination speech.
