Our history and indeed present reality as a country tells us all we need to know about politics: taking power is never the problem.

What is done with that power is.

ANT is committed to walking the talk not simply to get to power, but as a way to prepare for it.

There are many that doubt the wisdom behind this perspective. They look at the recent elections and write us off.

What they don’t realise is this: a huge number of Ugandans didn’t vote in the past election and those who voted had their voices severely undercut by electoral irregularities.

One cannot on the one hand assert that the elections were rigged and on the other use them as a yardstick to determine the country’s wishes.

There are millions of Ugandans out there that were not convinced that these elections were worth participating in.

There are many that would have voted were it not for the the government’s intimidation and military occupation of public spaces.

Our role as a party is to figure out how to move these Ugandans from a state of apathy or fear and motivate them to be active.

We believe that our message during the campaigns was well received.

Now, we will work towards demonstrating to Ugandans that we have the mindset, capacity, track record and resolve that are needed to turn our nation’s fortunes around.
