Former Kawempe South Member of Parliament (MP) Mubarak Munyagwa has left main opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) leaders shaking their heads after he claimed that a secret ballot vote between Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine and President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni’s son Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba of the MK Movement.
Taking over an insignificant political party a few years ago, Bobi Wine and his People Power pressure group emerged on the political scene and eclipsed Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) to become the main opposition group in Parliament.
Bobi Wine’s NUP wave swept across the Buganda sub-region, enabling little-known party candidates to defeat MPs such as Mubarak Munyagwa of the FDC who lost to radio presenter Bashir Kazibwe Mbaziira.
Munyagwa has since been making strong political statements as he endures the coldness outside Parliament.
The fearless MP, whose statements used to be exciting Zungulu and Point Blank material, has left many in NUP shocked after he suggested that Bobi Wine could be working with people who are ready to betray him.
Munyagwa told NBS Eagle at the weekend that he strongly believes that if a secret ballot vote was held between Gen Muhoozi and Bobi Wine, with the polling station being NUP’s Kamwokya headquarters, Bobi Wine would lose to Museveni’s son and Uganda’s ‘crown prince.’
The ex-MP made it clear that he was so much convinced that Bobi Wine would only get four votes, including one of his trusted ally Francis Zaake Butebi, the Mityana Municipality MP.
Munyagwa’s shocking prediction came after two other MPs dumped Bobi Wine and joined Muhoozi’s MK Movement. A NUP MP who crossed to Muhoozi’s camp months earlier has revealed that he is convincing more pro-Bobi Wine MPs to dump the singer and politician and join Museveni’s son and his MK Movement. Meanwhile, Munyagwa has previously said that Bobi Wine is overhyped for nothing, and is only popular in Buganda. (See Details Here).
