Muhoozi: Uganda Will Send UPDF Soldiers to Defend Vladimir Putin’s Russia (March 2023)

About three months before the ongoing coup against Russian President Vladimir Putin, Ugandan first son and senior presidential advisor on special operations Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba said that Kampala would send troops to defend Moscow if there was any need.

In what is expected to be a turning point in Putin’s hold on power and the Russia-Ukraine war that has dragged on for the past 16 months, Wagner Mercenary Group and its leader Yevgeny Prigozhin has declared ‘a march for justice’ in which he seeks to remove Putin from power.

Put has described Prigozhin’s march as treasonous and as ‘a stab in the back of our country.’

Whether this military coup – or a march to justice – succeeds will be clear in coming hours and days.

Towards the end of March 2023, Gen Kainerugaba confessed that he was a Putinist and that his country would send troops to defend Moscow.

“Call me a ‘Putinist’ if you will, but we, Uganda shall send soldiers to defend Moscow if it’s ever threatened by the Imperialists!” Kainerugaba tweeted. “The West is wasting its time with its useless pro-Ukraine propaganda.”

A former commander of the UPDF Land Forces, Kainerugaba would later delete this tweet.

His father, President Gen Museveni, would later ban his son from tweeting about the Russia-Ukrainian war as well as security matters. But the first son fired back at his father. (See Details Here and There).
