MR SPEAKER: Jacob Oulanyah beats Kadaga to become Uganda’s 11th Parliament Speaker

Majority of Uganda’s MPs have voted Omoro County MP Jacob Oulanyah the speaker of the 11th Parliament, rejecting Rebecca Kadaga who was seeking a third term.

Oulanyah got 310 votes, Kadaga garnered 197 votes while Kira Municipality MP Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda managed 15.

Before his election as speaker, Oulanyah was Kadaga’s deputy for one decade.
