A magistrate’s court in Masaka City has remanded opposition NUP MPs Allan Ssewanyana of Makindye West and Muhammad Ssegirinya of Kawempe North to Kigo Prison over a murder offence in Lwengo District.
MPs Ssegirinya and Ssewanyana will be on remand until October 13.
Prosecution alleges that on August 02, while at Kisekka B Village in Lwengo District, Ssewanyana, Ssegirinya and others, with malice aforethought, murdered Joseph Bwanika.
Last week, High Court in Masaka granted Ssegirinya and Ssewanyana bail after they had spent weeks at Kigo over separate murder charges connected to a spate of killings in Masaka.
But both MPs were rearrested and detained upon release.
Today, they appeared before Masaka Court presided over by grade one magistrate Grace Wakooli and were charged with fresh counts.
