Weeks after Mukono Municipality MP Betty Nambooze reported that a suspected assassin had broken into her house, another MP has survived being killed after a machete-wielding assassin broke into her house in Sembabule District.
Reports from the district indicate that a machete-wielding criminal gained access to Sembabule District Woman MP Mary Begumisa’s home.
The suspected assailant is believed to have jumped over the perimeter wall fence of the MPs house found in Kiggundu Zone, Lwabitakuli Sub County in Sembabule.
Police has since arrested the suspect whom they identified as Swaibu Kanyama who is aged 37.
MP Begumisa was not in the house when Kanyama broke into.
Kanyama had hidden in a room in the legislator’s house when her servant Fahad Ssejjoba identified him.
Ssejjoba had been watching television when an unusual noise alerted him to something strange outside.
He would then make an alarm, and also inform police officers at Lwebitakuli and Mateete.
Police have since detained Kanyama as they investigate the intention of his raid which comes days after Begumisa complained of intimidation by junior health minister for general duties Anifa Kawooya.
