MP Odonga Otto arrested from Gulu Hotel gym over journalist’s assault, illegal possession of firearms

Police detectives from CID Headquarters in Kampala have arrested Aruu MP Samuel Odonga Otto from a gym at Gulu City’s Bomah Hotel over a raft of charges.

The arrest happened at about 9am.

Detectives took Otto to Aswa River Region Police headquarters.

Deputy Director for Criminal Investigation Uganda Police Francis Olugu commanded the operation.

“We have arrested Hon. Odonga Otto on cases that were filed with Police and investigations were conducted. Case one is the allegation of assault and malicious damage in 2018 at Ogan kana Koko between Pader and Pajule,” explained Olugu.

“Other cases include assaulting a journalist [identified as Geoffrey Ojok Okot of Choice FM Gulu) during FUFA Drum Tournament match between Acholi versus West Nile Province at Pece war Memorial stadium in 2019, illegal possession of a firearm which is being investigated.”
