MP Cecilia Ogwal Dead. Cause of Death Revealed

. The long-serving and respected veteran legislator was 77 years old. 

The MP’s family had rushed Cecilia Ogwal to India for treatment after her condition deteriorated.

Cecilia Ogwal breathed her last on the morning of January 18, 2024.

Local news outlets quoted family sources as saying that Cecilia Ogwal had been battling cancer. She succumbed to the disease in an Indian hospital.

Parliament of Uganda has confirmed Cecilia Ogwal’s death.

The Rt Hon. Speaker, Anita Among regrets to announce the death of Dokolo District Woman MP, Hon. Cecilia Ogwal. It is a sad day for her family, the people of Lango, Parliament of Uganda and the country. We mourn the death of a political matriarch,” the institution said in a statement

“Details of the funeral arrangements will be announced later. May her soul rest in peace.”

Cecilia Ogwal was a moderate opposition MP subscribing to the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party.

Yet she was vocal against President Yoweri Museveni’s government. Cecilia Ogwal once told Museveni to stop mortgaging the future of Uganda’s grandchildren. (Read Details Here).
