More tears for Isaac Sempala as wife Nabilah secures another order further blocking him from Buziga home

Court has ordered Isaac Sempala to further stay away from their Buziga home pending his wife and Kampala woman MP Nabilah Naggayi’s response to his affidavit and a subsequent determination of a case of domestic violence.

Last week, Makindye Magistrate’s Court was expected to deliver it’s ruling in a domestic violence complaint Nabilah filed in March 2021.

The complaint forms part of the web of court cases involving the couple and former Makerere University vice chancellor Prof Venansius Baryamureeba over a ‘friendly loan’ amounting to Shs800m.

The outgoing Kampala Woman MP told court that Sempala had beaten her, her maid and her friend Jacob Imbo, a Kenyan engineer.

That in 2020, he had returned from Canada after many years (since 2013) only to beat her and others he found at the Buziga house.

The Buziga home itself, comprised in LVR 4004 Folio 8, Kyadondo, Block 273 Plot 5 Katuso Close, Buziga, is what Prof Baryamureeba hopes to have sold or taken over to recover his money.

It has in recent months been a scene of drama involving Nabilah and Sempala, with orders and counter orders fanning the chaos.

Now, while Nabilah’s lawyer Muhamood Kigula had come to court expecting a judgement on the domestic violence complaint, Grade One magistrate Lorna Tukundane ordered that his client responds to Sempala’s concerns.

Nabilah and her lawyer learnt that Sempala had filed an application to set apart ex parte proceedings and allow evidence from him as well.

Tukundane ordered Kigula (Nabilah’s lawyer) to respond to Sempala’s April 13 application.

In his defence, Sempala denied beating Nabilah, their maid and her friend Engineer Imbo.

Telling court he was yet to receive Nabilah’s applications for protection orders, Sempala said he was a peaceful husband who hated domestic violence.

He also pledged to respond a formal response to Nabilah’s applications if she served him with the same.

Consequently, Tukundane ordered Sempala to further stay away from the Buziga house until May 05 when a judgement is expected.
