Minister Byabagambi, Two other Ibanda Incumbent MPs, Prof Baryamureeba floored in NRM Primaries

Karamoja affairs minister Eng John Byabagambi has lost the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag bearer race for Ibanda South constituency.

Byabagambi lost to Dr John Paul Ninkusiima aka Panadol in a five-man race.

Dr Ninkusiima polled 15,983 while Byabagambi, who had represented Ibanda South since replacing Deo Rwabiita (RIP) in 2001, managed 12,534.

IBANDA NORTH

In Ibanda North, former MP Xavier Akampurira Kyooma secured 13,639 votes against Maj David Guma Gumisiriza’s 10,937, and Olivier Muzeeyi Mugisha’s 5,215.

IBANDA WOMAN MP RACE

Jane Bainomugisha surprised incumbent Jovrine Kyomukama Kaliisa and former MP Margaret Kiboijana and two others to carry the NRM flag for the 2021 election.

Bainomugisha got 37,606 ahead of Kaliisa’s 37,439, Kiboijana’s 19,319, Agnes Elvaida’s 1,555 and Obeth Asiimwe’s 607.

IBANDA MUNICIPALITY

Former presidential candidate and ex-Makerere University vice chancellor Prof Venansius Baryamureeba suffered yet another defeat, this time losing his bid for the Ibanda Municipality NRM flag.

Baryamureeba managed 1,332, coming fourth in a five-man race.

Incumbent Tarsis Rwaburindore Bishanga won with 13,276 votes ahead of Peter Agaba who garnered 12,219, and Deus Mulinde who polled 12,136.
