Mesut Ozil calls on club to give him a chance as he reflects on difficult time at Arsenal

Mesut Ozil admits that he has faced difficult time at Arsenal and for the club as a whole wishing to be given a chance to help turn around their fortunes on the pitch.

The German has been an outcast at the Emirates after he was left out of the Premier League and Europa League squads this season and not making a single appearance yet this campaign.

Arsenal team.

The 32-year-old is out of contract in the summer and will leave the club then or even earlier if they are willing to sell him in January.

The problem for the Gunners has been that they do not want to play Ozil for reasons that are not entirely clear but have been unable to get rid of him due to his enormous £350,000-a-week wages.

Since sidelining the German, Mikel Arteta’s side have been in dreadful form sitting 15th in the Premier League which has put the Spaniard under increasing pressure due to the club’s highest earner contributing nothing while the first team is struggling.

Ozil wants to be involved and says it is not that him that is hurting during this situation, but everyone at the club. Asked on Twitter if he is happy at Arsenal, Ozil replied: ‘It’s a very difficult time for everyone around the club not just for me. ‘The situation is frustrating for everyone. Of course I would wish I could help the team especially right now, but as long as I don’t get the chance I just hope that we get better results very soon again. But let’s stay positive.”

Ozil has struggled for regular game time under Arteta and previous manager Unai Emery who was brought to the club by Arsene Wenger.

The German international was asked if he considered the Frenchman a father figure and in a thinly veiled dig at the current stewardship, he said Wenger is missed at the Emirates. ‘He was really a fantastic manager yeah, and also like a father figure for me and many other players,’ Ozil wrote. ‘I think many people around Arsenal are really missing him.’’
