According to Mbarara City Clerk Theophilus Tibihika, Mbarara needs improved physical planning as a necessity to develop a well-organized City.

Tibihika who was speaking to journalists after government approving funds to operationalize 7cities that were authorized by government on July 1st 2020.

Mbarara is said to receive shs 18b to start her operations fully and Tibihika contends that City leaders had earlier discussed that priority areas of focus should be physical planning which posses a big challenge in development.

‘’As new buildings are being constructed, there should be recommended size of the roads to be looked at while constructing to avoid any future encumbrances to road users’’ said Tibihika

Tibihika believes that proper physical planning will also help developers to separate between commercial and residential structures from industry areas to avoid creation of slums within the city.

However, Tibihika said part of the operationalization funds the city is yet to get will be devoted to constructing roads and boda-boda stages so as to create some order within the central business area.

As other plans are being considered, education, health and capacity building for city staff are among the key priority areas in the service delivery for the city authorities.
