AIGP Asan Kasingye, the political commissar at the Uganda Police Force (UPF), has condemned acts of torture against suspects, including members of political parties such as National Unity Platform (NUP).
According to AIGP Kasingye, all those who engage in acts of torture deserve to rot in hell.
“Any person who tortures another, should rot in hell!” wrote Kasingye.
Masereka revealed some of the shocking things that suspected security operatives did to him.
“They would boil water in a percolator and then pour hot water on the particular parts that they wanted to hit. They would do this repeatedly,” said the NUP registrar.
“At one time I asked them why can’t you take me to court if you think I have committed a crime because they had held me for over 48 hours without trial but they told me that the 48-hour rule doesn’t apply to them because if they want, they could even kill me right away without a trace.”
