Leader of opposition in Parliament, Mathias Mpuuga says Democratic Party (DP) president general Norbert Mao could just be disheartened.
In recent weeks, Mao has been attacking opposition NUP party to which Mpuuga belongs.
The DP leader claimed that NUP is a shadow state project and that the Bobi Wine organization had received money from President Museveni’s government. (Read Story Here).
Mao also went on to claim that opposition leader Dr Kizza Besigye had held secret talks with Museveni. (Read Story Here).
But Besigye quickly dismissed these claims, saying Mao was just desperate. (Read Story Here).
A source that Mao claimed had told him about Museveni-Besigye secret talks has also since spoken out. (Read Story Here).
Mpuuga has now claimed that Mao’s recent attacks on opposition colleagues could be due to hopelessness.
“I have known Norbert Mao for a while, and for the person I know, there are no surprises,” Mpuuga told NBS Morning Breeze on March 02.
“I think he is dispirited.”
He also denied reports that NUP had refused to join the Inter-party Organization for Dialogue (Ipod) but received money from the loose coalition.
“I sit in Parliament, and I have not passed anything called ‘IPOD money’, so I don’t know what Norbert Mao is talking about,” Mpuuga submitted.
NUP leader Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine recently issued a statement on claims that the Kamwokya-based party had received money from Museveni. (Read Story Here).
