Man stuck with Two-Month-Old Baby after His Wife Ran Away Over Beans

A 27-year-old man in Kasese municipality is stuck with a two-month child after his wife abandoned the child with him on July 03, 2023, for reasons best known to her.

The man, who was found stranded at the Mayor’s Gardens on July 4, 2023 morning identified himself as Husain Mumbere, a resident of Kidodo Cell in Kasese Municipality.

Mumbere had travelled to seek for help from the office of the Community Development Officer (CDO).

Mumbere noted that he has been with the mother of the child for more than a year. He denied ever fighting or beating her. But she had always complained of bad living conditions, including telling her husband that she was tired of feeding on beans.

He believed that his wife had abandoned her to go and search for a rich man who will give her a better life.

By the time of filing this story, the baby was under the care of the grandmother identified as Audioza Balhubasa, a resident of the same area.

According to Balhubasa, her daughter-in-law had been engaging in adultery and that she had previously threatened to abandon the child.

The senior community officer for Kasese Municipality, Wilson Lhughabe, regretted the incident, calling on the mother to come back from wherever she may be.

Lhughabe asked parents involved in domestic violence in homes to stop because the vice has led to increased street kids. He also called on couples to strike to understand one another.

It should be remembered that foreign power project workers recently abandoned a number of teenage girls after impregnating them. Some of these teenage girls were infected with HIV/AIDs and their fathers have chased them from home. (See Details Here and There).
