Makerere University vice chancellor Prof Barnabas Nawangwe has announced the program for the resumption of studies, including online classes and examinations by alternative means of assessment.
In a statement, Prof Nawangwe said that resumption of studies for medical and veterinary Students would be on August 16, 2021.
Recently, the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) okayed the reopening of medical schools and other health training institutions following President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni’s July 30 orders. (See: SCHOOL REOPENING: See Latest Change in Reporting Date for Medical Schools)
Final year students (finalists) are expected to resume studies in form of online classes on August 30, 2021.
Students who had left without completing exams will write their papers from September 06 to September 24, 2021.
VC Prof Nawangwe noted that guidelines for alternative ways of assessment, instead of sitting examinations in physical halls and lecture rooms, would soon be released.
All university students will resume online lectures on September 27, 2021.
Nawangwe further explained what the resumption of online studies is intended to achieve.
“The intention is we should complete the academic year within this calendar year so that next year we can move on to the next academic year.”
