MAFIA! Ex-VP Bukenya delivers clear warning to PM Nabbanja

Former vice president Prof Gilbert Balibaseka Bukenya has warned prime minister Robinah Nabbanja against stepping on the toes of mafia gangs.

Last month, PM Nabbanja complained that she had received threats after vowing to take action against a supplier who had delivered substandard relief items to people displaced by floods in Kasese District.

Also the Kakumiro District Woman MP, Nabbanja said she would seek President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni’s help in tracking down those threatening her life.

Now, Prof Bukenya, one of the first officials to complain of mafia in the Museveni Government, has urged Nabbanja to go slow on the mafia or wait for the worst if she chooses to poke the gluttonous stomachs.

“I pray for Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja. I advise her to go slow because these people [mafia] are not ready to be disturbed,” Bukenya told NBS Morning Breeze.

“The mafia group is big, it participates in corruption and will remove any tree however deep its roots are.”

On whether the mafia actually exist in Uganda, Bukenya said he had tried to lift the lid off the mafia’s schemes but “I was ignored.”

“Aren’t you hearing people talking about them now?”

He added that he was very certain that “the mafia group wants to take over the country” and “will try to destabilise anybody who is sincere to this country.”
