Lawyer Hassan Male Kiwanuka Mabirizi has written to the National Identification and Registration Authority (Nira) and Makerere University demanding Bobi Wine’s birth date details.
In two separate letters written on August 20, Mabirizi explains that he wants to be certain Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine didn’t lie about his date of birth.
He has written to Makerere University academic registrar Alfred Masikye Namoah asking him to certify Bobi Wine’s academic transcript since it reads his birth year as 1980 instead of 1982 provided on the parliament of Uganda website.
“The purpose of this letter, therefore, is to request you to certify the said transcript and avail me with the application and bio-data forms signed by the said former student [Bobi Wine],” Mabirizi wrote to Makerere.
“The above documents, if availed, will go a long way in proving that your former student is dishonest in claiming that he was born in 1982 or that his details were incorrectly recorded by your staff.”
For Nira, Mabirizi has asked the executive director to avail him the application form in which Bobi Wine filled his date of birth and appended his signature.
He also tells the identification agency that access to these documents will either prove Bobi Wine’s ‘dishonesty’ or implicate Nira staff for incorrectly recording the singer-turned-politician’s birth date details.
Days ago, Mabirizi claimed Bobi Wine lacked credentials to lead Uganda, according to copies of academic papers he secured from the Electoral Commission.
“Hon Kyagulanyi failed Mathematics at O-level with F9 hence casting doubt in his ability to steer the country. He failed GP at A ‘Level, no wonder his inability to articulate policy issues for the country.”
He also accused the MP of deceit.
“I was availed with all documents presented by Bobi Wine to EC in 2017 Kyadondo East by-election and I discovered dishonesty on his side. He was not born in 1982 as he claims because the Makerere University transcript shows that he was born on February 12, 1980,” said Mabirizi on August 21.
“This is something big for someone who wants to stand for presidency to be dishonest. We can’t allow our country be ruled by someone who is not transparent.”
Mabirizi plans to drag Bobi Wine to court for dishonesty contrary to Articles 102 and 80 of the Constitution section 115 of the Penal Code Act and section 76 of the Registration of Persons Act, 2015.
