National Unity Platform (NUP) lawyer and Kyadondo East MP Muwadda Nkunyingi says Turkey-based Ugandan blogger Fred Kajubi Lumbuye is set to be released from Kocaeli Detention Centre.
The controversy surrounding the alleged deportation of Lumbuye for spreading fake news stole headlines months ago.
Now, Nkunyingi says the legal team working on Lumbuye’s case in Turkey has confirmed that the toxic blogger would be out today.
He went on to reveal that authorities in Turkey had sent a notification regarding their decision to conditionally release Lumbuye.
“The Legal Team in Turkey Confirmed to us that Turkish Authorities Notified them LUMBUYE FRED would be ‘conditionaly’ released today as all key legal applications were concluded,” said Nkunyingi.
“Certainly he will narrate the details himself at the appropriate time. Our legal team remain Committed to promptly follow up all due processes. Thank you all for the Perseverance. Freedom shall be the ultimate result.”
